May 13, 2025 - IRAN. Mahtab Amiri, a woman, executed in Shiraz on May 13
According to information IHR obtained on May 13, Mahtab Amiri, a woman, was executed in Shiraz (Adel Abad) Central Prison on May 7 (according to Hengaw, on May 13). Mahtab Amiri, from Shiraz, was arrested for the murder of her fiancé three years ago.
According to wncri.org, with the execution of Mahtab Amiri the number of women executed in Iran in 2025 has risen to sixteen, and at least 279 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
At the time of writing, the execution has not been reported by domestic media in Iran.
