October 4, 2025 - IRAN. 6 political prisoners executed in Ahvaz on October 4

Ali Mojaddam, Mohammadreza Moghaddam, Moein Khanfari, Habib Dris, Adnan Ghabishavi, and Salem Mousavi

The death sentences of six Arab political prisoners — Ali Mojaddam, Mohammadreza Moghaddam, Moein Khanfari, Habib Dris, Adnan Ghabishavi, and Salem Mousavi — were carried out in secret at Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.

According to information received by Hengaw, at dawn on October 4, 2025, the executions were conducted without prior notice to the prisoners’ families. None were granted a final visit before being put to death.

The state-run Mizan news agency, affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, later confirmed the executions, claiming that the men had been convicted of “separatism” and “collaboration with Israel.”

Hengaw strongly condemns these unlawful and inhumane executions and calls on international human rights mechanisms, including the United Nations and the European Union, to take immediate and effective measures to halt the ongoing wave of executions in Iran.

According to Hengaw’s documentation, the death sentences of Mojaddam, Moghaddam, Khanfari, Dris, Ghabishavi, and Mousavi were issued on February 13, 2023, by Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz.

The six men were subjected to severe torture and coerced into giving televised “confessions” under duress. They were accused of “transferring foreign currency through an international bank,” “carrying out armed attacks,” and “links to the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz (ASMLA).”

Iranian judicial authorities had also alleged that the group was connected to several separate incidents resulting in the deaths of two Basij members, one police officer, and one soldier.

All six were arrested during the winter of 2019 amid widespread labor protests in Khuzestan Province. Following their arrests, they were initially held in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz before being transferred to Sepidar Prison, where their death sentences were ultimately carried out.
