INDIA: CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR MURDER ACCUSED

in India, District and Sessions Judge K Somashekhar awarded capital punishment to Ramdas Alias Dasa Bommayya Nayak after convicting him two days earlier. Ramdas Alias Dasa Bommayya Nayak, a resident of Hillur village, was convicted of brutally murdering his wife Meera on June 30, 2005, by chopping off her head with a sickle. The couple’s children were said to be witnesses to the incident. The defence was appointed by the court order legal aid services and argued that Ramdas was mentally ill when he committee the crime. However, the court rejected this defence.
