INDIA. AIMB DEMANDS CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR US SOLDIERS WHO INSULTED KORAN

09 July 2005 :

the All India Minority Board (AIMB) asked the US President George W Bush to award capital punishment to those soldiers who had insulted the holy Koran and seek public apology for their ''shameful acts''.
In a letter addressed to Indian President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the Chief Convener of the Board, Maulana Manzoor Ahmed said that the US soldiers, while interrogating the prisoners in Guantanamo prison had placed the Koran on toilet seats and flushed one down the sewer.
''This amounts to desecration of Koran by the US soldiers and is an insult to those who believe in the ethos of 'Sarva Dharna Samman'. The US soldiers responsible for the profane act should be tried in open court and awarded capital punishment.” Mr Ahmed also said that being the head of the state the US President George W Bush should seek public apology for the act.
