Dang Ngoc Viet, a homeless man, was executed by firing squad in Vietnam for killing a motorcycle taxi driver and stealing his bike and money. Viet, 20, was put to death at dawn on July 14 at the Tuy Phuc district execution ground in the central province of Binh Dinh. He was sentenced to death in September 2003 after been found guilty of luring his victim to a remote spot on May 17 and smashing his head in with a rock. Viet was arrested two days later.
