A Chattogram court on August 26, 2025 sentenced two men to death and another to life imprisonment for the 2020 murder of Mahfuzur Rahman at EPZ police station area.
The verdict was delivered by Chattogram 3rd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Nishaduzzaman.
The death penalty was handed to Tanvir Mohammad Sajeeb and Md. Hridoy, while Md. Ahsan alias Yasin received a life sentence.
Each of the death row convicts was also fined Tk 25,000.
According to the case details, Mahfuzur Rahman's body was found near Shahin Shah Tower at New Mooring area on the morning of May 2, 2020.
Following an investigation, police submitted a charge sheet and the court framed charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code on January 25, 2022.
All three convicts were present during the verdict and were sent to jail afterward.
