at a local court in India, District and Sessions Judge GK Rai sentenced a man to death who was convicted of murdering his daughter and wife. Mohinder Singh, a resident of Partap Singh Wala, raped his minor daughter in July 1999 when she was alone at home. On the statement of his daughter and his wife, Veena, a local court in May 2001 sentenced the accused to 11 years imprisonment. After coming out on parole in January 2006, the accused tried to oust his two daughters, his son and his wife from his house but other relatives interfered. On the evening of January 8, 2006, when Malkiat Singh, the only son of the accused, had gone to drop his sister Neetu at her in-laws in Khanna, the accused attacked Veena and Geetu with a hatchet, they died on the spot.
