18 July 2007 :
a man who had 2 death sentences against him reversed by the Missouri Supreme Court was found guilty today of murder. For a 3rd time, a jury in St. Louis County court sentenced Vincent McFadden to death. The jury found McFadden, 27, guilty of the July 3, 2002 fatal shooting of 20-year-old Todd Franklin. McFadden received the death penalty for Franklin's murder in 2005 and another death sentence a year later for the murder of Leslie Addison. But, the Missouri Supreme Court reversed the convictions and ordered new trials after deciding there was racial bias during jury selection. McFadden will stand trial for a 2nd time in March for Leslie Addison's murder. Judge John Ross set punishment for Aug. 24. In March 2005, another jury recommended the death penalty for Franklin's murder on July 3, 2002. Last year a jury convicted McFadden of the May 15, 2003 murder of Leslie Addison, 18, and sentenced to death. Both convictions and death sentences were set aside by the Missouri Supreme Court on the grounds of racial bias in jury selection, and new trials were ordered. McFadden also has been convicted of shooting into a car on April 4, 2002, and wounding a gang rival. He is serving a 30-year sentence in that case.
