19 September 2012 :
a Delhi court, in India, awarded death sentence to a youth for killing his foster parents, who had adopted him when he was a few days old, and wife for opposing his extramarital affairs with a girl. The convict had stabbed his handicapped father, mother and his six-month pregnant wife to death in April 2008. Holding that the convict is a menace to the society, Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Virender Bhat sentenced Nitin to death saying that life imprisonment would be an inadequate punishment for his crime. Refusing to show any leniency to the convict, the judge said, "The present case, in my opinion, amounts to the rarest of rare cases, which shocks the collective conscience of the society, which would definitely expect the court to inflict death sentence upon the convict."(Sources: www.indianexpress.com, 04/09/2012)
