At its 46th meeting, on 13 November, the Committee had before it a draft resolution entitled “Moratorium on the use of the death penalty” (A/C.3/73/L.44), submitted by:
Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Timor-Leste, Tuvalu, Ukraine, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of). Subsequently, Algeria, Andorra, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, the Central African Republic, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Gabon, Israel, Madagascar, Micronesia (Federated States of Federated States of), Panama, Samoa, San Marino, Sao Tome and Principe, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Togo and Uruguay joined in sponsoring the draft resolution.
