The identities of seven Gurji people, including one woman, who were killed after being shot with live ammunition by Iranian government forces during protests in Isfahan have been confirmed.
According to information obtained by Hengaw, those killed are Hananeh Azizi, Mohammad Hassan Ashrafi, Masoud Youseyliani, Mohammad Sepiani, Esmail Aslani, Javad Heydari, and Reza Karimi.
During protests in Isfahan on January 9, 2026, Hananeh Azizi, 18, Masoud Youseyliani, 32, and Esmail Aslani, all residents of Isfahan, were shot dead with live ammunition by Iranian government forces.
Hananeh Azizi was laid to rest on January 15 at Bagh-e Rezvan Cemetery, Block 2, Section 62. The body of Masoud Youseyliani was identified after a week-long search by his family among bodies held at Gharazi Hospital and was also buried on January 15.
On the same day, Mohammad Hassan Ashrafi, a 36-year-old resident of Fereydunshahr in Isfahan province, who was married and the father of a young child, was killed after being shot in the heart with live ammunition by Iranian government forces during protests in Isfahan.
Reza Karimi, a resident of Malekshahr in Isfahan, was also killed after being shot with live ammunition by Iranian government forces during protests in the city.
In addition, Mohammad Sepiani and Javad Heydari, both residents of Fereydunshahr in Isfahan province, were killed after being shot with live ammunition by Iranian government forces during protests in the area.
