EGYPT COURT. TWO GANG LEADERS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER, RAPE OF 20 STREET CHILDREN
May 23, 2007: an Egyptian court sentenced two gang leaders who had confessed to the murder and rape of 20 street children to death, court officials said. Ramadan Abdel Rehim Mansour, 27, known as Al-Tourbini, and Farag Samir Mahmoud, 25, known as Hanata, were convicted and sentenced by the criminal court in Tanta, 90 kilometers (55 miles) north of Cairo. The gang leaders, who were also found guilty of illegal possession of weapons, admitted to killing 20 street children although police was able to recover only the remains of eight.
