Mohd Halid, Alsar and Arjie were sentenced to death by the High Court on May 30, 2012, in 2014 and December 31, 2016 respectively after they were found guilty as charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Mohd Halid was convicted of killing a woman at an unnumbered house in Kampung Langkabong, Tongod on May 5, 2009. Alsar was convicted of killing a man at a compound behind a shop at Bandar Sandakan on August 1, 2013 while Arjie was convicted of murdering his workmate near a house at a construction site at Kampung Sunsuron in Tambunan on January 24, 2014.
The three men had appealed to the Appellate Court against their conviction and death sentences but their appeals were dismissed on September 26, 2017 in the case of Mohd Halid and Alsar and March 7, 2018 in the case of Arjie.
