IRAN: 25 MORE EXECUTIONS
February 19, 2015: 25 more prisoners were hanged in Iran in recent days.
At least 14 prisoners were hanged on February 16 in the cities of Bam, Uromiyeh and Bandar Abbas. A group of six prisoners were sent to gallows in the city of Bam in southern Iran. A group of five prisoners were executed in Darya Prison in the city of Uromiyeh which included three residents of Kurdistan province and two residents of Azerbaijan province.Â One of the victims was identified as Rahim Soleimani, 60, who had already spent 20 years in prison.
On February 17, eight prisoners were hanged in different Iranian cities. A group of six were hanged in Karajâs Gohardasht prison. They included three men identified as Vahid Lalabadi, Ayob Farhadi, 33 and Amir Davoodi, 39, who had been transferred to isolation the day before. Another prisoner was hanged publicly in Shiraz (Southern Iran), reported the state run Mehr news agency. He was identified as âM. R. P.â and convicted of murder and Moharebeh for armed robbery said the news. An unidentified 66 year old man was hanged in the prison of Mashhad (Northeastern Iran), reported the Khorasan daily newspaper. He was convicted of a murder in 2008 and sentenced to qisas (retribution).
Three men were hanged on February 18 in Rajaishahr prison of Karaj (West of Tehran) early in the morning. According to sources Iran Human Rights (IHR) as been in contact with two of the prisoners were identified as âMohammad Naderiâ and âMojtaba Shokohiâ from the ward 1 of Rajaishahr prison, while the third prisoner was an unidentified Afghan prisoner from Ghezelhesar prison. Mohammad Naderi and Mojtaba Shokohi were convicted of murdering one Revolution Guard Corps general and sentenced to retribution.
