EGYPT: FOUR JORDANIANS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR DRUGS
November 12, 2009: a court in El-Tor, Egypt, sentenced four Jordanians to death for trying to smuggle hashish. The verdict has to be ratified by Egyptâ€™s top cleric.
Three of the accused were sentenced in absentia. The man was arrested in January 2009 by security officials in Egyptâ€™s Red Sea port of Nuweiba in a truck which allegedly contained 173 kgs of hashish concealed in the tyres.
