Hengaw has verified the identities of seven additional individuals who were killed by direct gunfire from Government forces during the protests in Tehran.

The victims have been identified as Mobin Ghanbari, a young Turkish man from Khoy; Mohammad Matin Mosleh, from Bakharz in Razavi Khorasan Province; and five residents of Tehran: Ali Aghajani, Majid Astir, Alireza Javaheripi, Amir Ahmadi, and Ali Orouji.

Ali Aghajani, 26, originally from Takestan in Qazvin Province, was shot in the neck by government forces in front of Al-Rasoul Mosque in Tehran’s Shahr-e Ziba neighborhood and died instantly on the evening of January 9, 2026. His death certificate falsely cited a “traffic accident” as the cause of death, and his body was later buried in a village in Takestan.

Hengaw sources also reported that during the crackdown, government forces had positioned themselves on the rooftop of Al-Rasoul Mosque and opened fire on protesters from above.

Earlier, on the evening of January 8, 2026, the remaining three individuals were killed by direct gunfire from government forces in various parts of Tehran. They have been identified as Mobin Ghanbari, 20, a Turkish athlete from Khoy; Majid Astir, a resident of Pirouzi Street in Tehran; and Mohammad Matin Mosleh, 22, originally from Bakharz in Razavi Khorasan Province and a resident of Tehran.

Hengaw has learned that Ali Orouji’s body was identified several days later among the victims at the Kahrizak morgue.

Alireza Javaheripi was the cousin of another victim with the same surname who was killed in the IRGC missile strike on a Ukrainian passenger plane in January 2020.
