In the early hours of December 3, 2025, a female inmate was hanging in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
She had been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses.
Despite the execution taking place, her identity has not been disclosed as of this report, and officials from Vakilabad Prison and judicial authorities have yet to publicly confirm the execution.
With this execution, the number of women executed in Iran since the beginning of 2025 has reached 56.
According to data recorded by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (Wncri), at least 319 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
