USA - Florida. Prosecutors agreed to drop death against Brandon Bradley
June 23, 2021: On June 23, Brevard County prosecutors agreed to drop the death against Brandon Bradley. Bradley, now 31, black, was sentenced to death on June 27, 2014 (see) after a Brevard County popular jury, on April 8, 2014, voted 10-2 for the death sentence. Bradley is accused of killing Deputy Sheriff Barbara Pill, 53, on March 6, 2012, during a traffic stop. The death sentence was overturned on March 30, 2017 (see) because it was not voted unanimously by the jury. . In a statement released to the media, State Attorney Phil Archer wrote that “the Pill family has requested that we agree to a sentence of life in prison for Mr. Bradley rather than seek the death penalty through a new sentencing proceeding.” Bradley will be formally sentenced to life in prison on July 23, 2021 by Judge Charles Crawford.
