YEMEN: 3 SENTENCED TO DEATH OVER SPYING FOR SAUDI-LED COALITION
January 31, 2018: The criminal court in the capital Sana’a sentenced three people to death and jailed another over charges of spying for the Saudi-led coalition. According to the court’s verdict, Saeed Mahfoud, Asma’a Matir al-Omisi and Ahmed Abdullah Bawazir were sentenced to death, while Mater Mohammed al-Omisi was sentenced to 15 years in jail, starting from his arresting date. The convicts have been accused of spying and collaborating with the countries of the Saudi-led coalition as well as running networks for recruiting mercenaries in favor of the United Arab Emirates in the country. Yemen has been under daily Saudi-led bombardment since March 26 of 2015, which is backed by the US and the UK.
