BANGLADESH: 2 TO WALK GALLOWS FOR KILLING A SCHOOLBOY
March 25, 2014: A Dhaka court sentenced two kidnappers to death in absentia for killing a six years schoolboy after abduction two years ago.
Md Nafis, a play group student of Provati Bidya Niketon Kindergarten, was abducted on February 21, 2012 from Mollahbari area in Keraniganj of the capital.
Two days after the abduction, Nafis was killed and left under a pile of sand near a mosque of the locality.
Convicts M Ali Hossain and Md Shafique are neighbours of Nafis.
They went into hiding after securing bail from the High Court in the case.
The court also acquitted Md Khalil as charges brought against him were not proved.
Judge Sajedur Rahman of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 handed down the judgement.
According to the case statement, the criminals demanded Tk 5 lakh after the abduction. Later they killed the boy as Nafis's family could not pay the ransom. Â
