MALAYSIA: THAI WOMAN GETS DEATH SENTENCE FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
November 25, 2013: A 36-year-old Thai woman was sent to the gallows at High Court in Alor Setar, Malaysia, after she was found guilty of trafficking 18.3kg of Cannabis last year.
Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab meted out the sentence on Thitapha Charoenchuea, 36, who committed the offence at Express Bus Station, Kuala Ketil in Sungai Petani on Feb, 14 at about 9.45pm.
Mohd Zaki, in passing the judgement, said that the prosecution has established prima facie case against Titapha who hailed from Bangkok.
According to the fact of the case, a total of 20 packets of drugs were found in her luggage during a check on passengers board on express en route from Changlun to Kuala Lumpur.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Shuhada Mohd Yatim and Aisyaf Falina Abdullah prosecuted while the accused was represented by Ai Cha Ren. (Sources: nst.com.my, 25/11/2013)
