EU STRONGLY CONDEMNS MASS EXECUTION IN IRAN
January 27, 2009: the European Union strongly protested the
execution of 22 individuals in Iran between 20-21 January, including that of an
Afghan juvenile offender.
"The
European Union strongly condemns the execution of Molla Gol Hassan, an Afghan
citizen sentenced for a crime he is accused of committing when he was 17 years
old. He was executed on 21 January 2009 in Evin Prison,
Tehran," the Czech Presidency of the EU said in a statement.
The EU
further called on Iran
to abolish the death penalty in all cases, and in the meantime, to establish a
