UAE. 'STONING' SENTENCE FOR ADULTERY COMMUTED
November 22, 2006: a woman escaped a sentence of 'death by stoning' after her sentence for adultery was commuted by an appeal court to one-year imprisonment, 40 lashes and deportation. The Bangladeshi national, identified only as N.A.M., had been convicted by Fujairah's Sharia Court, UAE, of committing adultery with the second defendant, M.N., also convicted of the same charges.
