PAKISTAN. MAN HANGED FOR MURDER
November 15, 2006: Mureed Hussain, 35, resident of Noorpur, was hanged in Faisalabad District Jail, Pakistan. The accused had reportedly attempted to develop “illicit ties” with a married woman and had killed her son Ehsanullah, 7, on August 30, 1993.
Hussain was sentenced to death by a Session Court on November 5, 1995. His appeal was rejected by the High Court on April 1, 2002, and the Supreme Court confirmed the sentence on March 17, 2003.
Hussain’s parents attempted to offered blood money to the victim's parents but negotiations failed and they refused to pardon him. (Sources: Business Recorder, 16/11/2006)
