The Florida Supreme Court issued an order, citing Hurst, vacating the death sentences and remanding to the circuit court for a new penalty phase to Lamar Brooks. Brooks, 44, Black, was sentenced on Feb. 25, 2002 (see) for the April, 24, 1996 murders of Rachel Carlson and her three-month-old daughter, Alexis Stuart.
