The Criminal Court sentenced to death two Singaporeans convicted of attempting to smuggle heroin out of the country and related charges.The two - Tan Kim Jai, 22, and Ung Beng Chuan, 32 - were arrested separately in October 2000. Police said they were acting together. Tan was arrested at Bangkok International Airport as he was about to board a flight to Taiwan with about 3.6 kilograms of heroin strapped around his body. Police later arrested Ung at a Bangkok department store. Acting on a tip-off from authorities in Singapore, Thai anti-narcotics police had trailed both suspects and photographed their illegal activities.
