The Criminal Court sentenced three people to death...

06 November 2001 :

The Criminal Court sentenced three people to death for possessing 198,000 amphetamine pills with intent to traffic.
Samruay Sawangsaeng, 44, Kamol Puengsuk, 42, Tossaporn Yimpong, 27, and Wilai Saenjan, 30, were arrested during a police undercover operation in 1999.
They initially pleaded guilty but recanted their confessions during the trial.
Wilai died while the court was considering the case.
Finding the accused guilty, the court ruled that they deserved the death penalty because they had shown their lack of remorse by trying to fight the charges.
