Hadi Attazadeh tortured and murdered in Ahar prison
On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, a young man from Ahar, Hadi Attazadeh, residing in East Azarbaijan, was murdered after being flogged and transferred to quarantine section in Ahar Prison.
Javanehha.com has received a film showing the young man’s body at the mortuary and the marks of torture on his body.
A relative of Atazadeh: “Hadi was detained in Ahar prison for drinking alcoholic beverages. Prison officials on Monday removed him from the ward and lashed him, and then sent him to the prison quarantine ward. Hadi’s physical condition has been severe since he entered the ward, but no one has paid attention to the extent that Hadi’s cellmates have insisted to prison officials that he needs medical attention. Finally, after Hadi’s death, his body was taken to a hospital.”
The source’s description of the denial of the news: “All of this is rumor. Some want to cover up this crime. Stitches on Hadi’s chest are the effects of forensic exams, and the news of suicide and clashes with other prisoners is absolutely false.”
In response to Hadi Atazadeh’s family’s follow-up on the reasons for the prisoner’s death, Ahar prison officials have claimed that he died of coronavirus.
“Hadi Attazadeh was in good health and prison officials have no evidence that he was infected with coronavirus,” the source said. “He had been on leave for a few days. During this period, there were no symptoms. In fact, Hadi was not sick until the flogging was carried out, but immediately after being flogged, his physical condition deteriorated severely. The prison guards, however, paid no attention to the young man’s condition and gave him only a few painkillers. I think even Hadi didn’t have vital signs before he was sent to the hospital. In fact, Muharram Nouri in collaboration with prison officials, murdered Hadi Atazadeh.”
Moharram Nouri is one of the judicial authorities in Ahar County and head of the Branch for the Implementation of the Orders of the Judiciary and the Public and Revolution Prosecutor’s Office of the city.
In the past two days, Hadi Atazadeh’s family and relatives have been under pressure from Ahar’s security agencies not to publicize the incident. Security agencies have contacted Hadi Atazadeh’s family members and many relatives and friends and threatened them with arrest if they talk to the media.
Also, the family of the deceased prisoner is under pressure from security agencies to withdraw their complaints after filing a complaint against prison officials and Ahar county enforcement officials.
Hadi Atazadeh’s murder under torture is not the first case of murder under torture, in many cases over the past few years, prisoners have been murdered under the flogging and brutal torture of interrogators and prison guards, and prison and judiciary officials have declared it a suicide or a prisoner’s illness.
