a Tamale High Court, in Ghana, presided by Justice Lawrence Mensah, sentenced all five New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth activists to various prison sentences.
The decision was taken by a seven-member jury which decided and charged Yahuza Yakubu, Abibu Dagbana, Majeed Alhassan, Alhassan Sayibu and Imoro Gundaana for conspiracy to murder.
Yahuza Yakubu, one of the convicted individuals, was found guilty of murder and conspiracy to murder and has been sentenced to death by hanging.
The accused persons were arrested in Tamale following a political clash between NPP and NDC youth in front of Tamale Central Market butchers house on February 17, 2009.
Rashid Alhassan, NDC youth activist died during the said clash in 2009 which resulted into the burning of 27 houses, vehicles, motorbikes and other valuables in Gumbihini, Choggu and other surrounding communities in the Tamale metropolis.   metplo omi
