MOROCCO: SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPING AND KILLING A WOMAN AND VIDEOTAPING HIM

February 12, 2020:

A Moroccan court on 11 February 2020 sentenced to death the principal accused of raping and killing a woman in a popular neighborhood in Rabat last summer, in addition to participating in the recording of a video with the facts and disseminating it on social networks.
The Rabat Court of Appeal condemned this 48-year-old defendant to capital punishment, while his chief accomplice was sentenced to twenty years in jail and eight other accomplices to a lesser extent – including the author of the recording, of two minutes long – to five years each, as revealed by several digital media.
The court found A.B. guilty of murder with premeditation, torture and rape of the young woman, in a crime that raised a great social alarm.
