SOMALIA: PUNTLAND MILITARY COURT EXECUTES 3 ALLEGED AL-SHABAAB MEMBERS

March 16, 2015: a military court in Somalia’s north eastern state of Puntland executed three alleged Al-Shabaab members in the city of Bossaso, Garowe Online reported.
Speaking at a press conference in the state capital of Garowe, Puntland Security Minister Hassan Osman Allore said that a firing squad executed Mohamed Abdi Ahmed (Olol), Xajow Sheikh Nur Osman and Ismeal Abdulkadir Jama for taking part in planned assassinations and a wave of terror attacks, mainly in Bossaso.
In 2014, Puntland security forces captured the three in Bossaso and on 9 March they appeared before the military court.
Over the last year, Puntland government stepped up criminal hearings, sentencing dozens of terror suspects to death while others were handed life imprisonment and jail terms ranging from two to ten years. (Sources: garoweonline.com, 16/03/2015)
