A public debate devoted to “International Action for Freedom in Iran and the Middle East” took place in a Catholic cultural centre in The Hague on Saturday, July 26.
The event was attended by about 70 NGOs representatives.
Yuliya Vassilyeva, member of the Board of Hands Off Cain, presented the “Report 2014 on Death Penalty in the World”, highlighting in particular the increase of both death sentences and executions in Iran and in Iraq during the last year. Speaking as a member of the General Council of the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty, Antonio Stango outlined the geopolitical situation of the region and reported about the work of the party at the Human Rights Council in Geneva and of the possible ways of interaction between NGOs and the United Nations system for the protection of human rights.
