a man and a woman were sentenced to death in Nairobi, Kenya, after being found guilty of the murder of an Italian Catholic priest in 2009.
Father Giuseppe Bertaina, 82, lived in Kenya for about 50 years, where he founded and directed a religious institution. The priest was found dead in January 2009 with his hands and feet tied. The authorities quickly identified Felix Savayi and Mabel Kavati as the perpertrators of the murder. The two were found with a chequebook belonging to the priest. A third person was acquitted.
