George Jones was executed. Jones, 36, black, was sentenced to death in 1995 for the April 13, 1993 robbing and killing of Forest Hall, 22. Jones was implicated by an accomplice, Derrick Rodgers, who plea-bargained for a 22-year prison term for aggravated robbery and testified against Jones. Jones becomes the 12th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas and the 459th overall since the state resumed capital punishment on December 7, 1092. Jones becomes the 25th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA, and the 1213th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
