Gerald James Holland was executed. Holland, 72, white, raped and killed 15-year-old Krystal Dee King (white) in 1986. He apologized to the family of his victims in his final statement. Holland becomes the 2nd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Mississippi and the 12th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1983. Holland becomes the 21st condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1209th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
