Long Beach Superior Court Judge Tomson Ong upheld the April 1 (see) jury's decision that Lloyd Earl Jackson should die. Jackson was convicted in January 1979 for the Aug. 29, 1977 murder of Vernita Curtis, 81, and the Sept. 7, 1977, killing of Gladys Ott, 90. Jackson, 52, so far spent more than 30 years on death row, becoming the longest standing on death row for the state.
