(February 24, 2023) - Jose Larin-Garcia sentenced to death
A Riverside County jury sentenced Jose Larin-Garcia, 23, Hispanic, to death.
Larin-Garcia was convicted on February 6 of 4 homicides committed on February 3, 2019 during a botched drug deal. The victims were: Yuliana Garcia, 17; Jacob Montgomery, 19; Juan Duarte Raya, 18, and Carlos Campos Rivera, 25.
Larin-Garcia's attorneys focused their defense on several open questions unanswered by the investigation, such as who was the person seen fleeing the scene and where was the murder weapon, which was never found. Riverside County Superior Court Judge Anthony Villalobos will formally sentence Larin-Garcia in the coming weeks.
