USA - Alabama. John Forrest Parker was executed

11 June 2010 :

John Forrest Parker was executed. Parker, 42, white, was convicted in 1989 of the March 18, 1988 capital murder of Elizabeth Dorlene Sennett, 45. Prosecutors said Rev. Charles Sennett, who was deeply in debt and wanted to collect on insurance,  contacted one of his tenants, Billy Gray Williams, about killing his wife, and that Williams then paid Parker and Kenneth Eugene Smith $1,000 each to do it. Charles Sennett committed suicide 1 week after his wife's slaying. Williams, 43, is serving life in prison without parole. Smith, now 44, also is on death row but does not have an execution date. Parker becomes the 2nd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Alabama and the 46th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1983. Parker becomes the 27th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1215th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
