IRAN - Melika Azizi could be executed shortly

IRAN - Melika Azizi

22 March 2026 :

March 21, 2026 - IRAN. A friend of HoC, Yassmin Pucci, has alerted us to the risk of the imminent execution of an 18-year-old girl, Melika Azizi.

The news has appeared on the social media accounts of several Iranian exiles.

Melika Azizi is an 18-year-old Iranian girl. She has become a symbol of youth resistance after being arrested during protests in the country.

Melika was arrested on 9 January 2026 in Gilan province (in the town of Masal) on charges of setting fire to symbols of the regime or the flag of the Islamic Republic. She is being held in Lakan prison in Rasht, where, according to various sources, she has been subjected to violence and solitary confinement.

She has been formally charged with Moharebeh (“war against God”), a charge which, under the Iranian judicial system, often carries the death penalty. Although current reports do not provide exact details of the trial, it appears that the young woman was sentenced to death in March 2026.

During the trial, Melika showed great courage by declaring to the judge: “You have allowed so many young people to shed their blood. How can I remain silent? I don’t care. Go ahead and kill me.”

The hashtag #FreeMelikaAzizi is seeking to halt the execution.

There are reports that her family is under intense pressure from the authorities not to disclose information about her legal situation.
