November 4, 2024: November 4, 2024 - IRAN. Arvin Ghahremani executed in Kermanshah on November 4 A young Iranian Jewish man The death sentence of Arvin Ghahremani (Nathaniel), a Jewish prisoner and member of the Kurdistan Jewish community held in Dizel Abad Prison, Kermanshah, has been carried out. Ghahremani, arrested at 18 on charges of murder, was subsequently sentenced to death. According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Monday, November 4, 2024, the 20-year-old, Arvin Ghahremani from Bukan residing in Kermanshah, was executed. Kermanshah prosecutor Mr. Karami confirmed the execution. The timing of Ghahremani’s execution coincides with growing tensions between Iran and Israel, raising concerns that it may have been politically motivated. Previously, Hengaw reported that pressure from Kermanshah’s Friday Prayer Imam, Habibollah Ghafoori, who represents Supreme Leader Khamenei in the province, and the IRGC Intelligence, led the victim’s family to refuse a pardon based on Ghahremani’s Jewish faith. Arvin Ghahremani’s arrest in 2022 followed a group altercation resulting in the death of Amir Shokri, a Muslim. A source told IHR: “Arvin’s religion was initially cited as Shia Muslim in the case and the victim’s family agreed to accept diya but changed their mind and insisted on his execution when they discovered that he was Jewish.”
