BANGLADESH: 3 AWARDED CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR MURDER IN NARAIL
June 18, 2024: A court in Narail on June 12, 2024 sentenced three people to death for killing a man in Lohagara upazila of the district in 2018. The convicts are – Anarul Molla, son of late Abul Khair Molla, resident of Makrail village of Lohagara upazila, Jinarul Islam alias Tara Mia, son of late Moktar Sardar of Morichpasha village and Md. Nazmul Shikder, son of Akubbar Shikder of Arpara village in Lohagara upazila of the district. The judgment was handed down by Narail District and Sessions Court Judge Almas Hossain Mridha. The court also fined them Tk 100,000 each. According to the prosecution, on June 23, 2018, the accused called victim Palash Molla, 25, from his house by tempting him to buy an easy bike for Tk40,000. On June 26, 2018, police recovered an unidentified body from Jahangir's paddy field in Dhankhola village of Sadar Police Station in Magura district. On July 8, 2018 victim Palash Molla’s family identified the body after receiving news from various media and seeing photos. Later, a case was filed at Lohagara Police Station following the complaint lodged by the victim’s brother Ahad Ali. (Source: UNB, 12/06/2024)
