SAUDI ARABIA: TWO CITIZENS BEHEADED FOR MURDER AND RAPE
March 3, 2015: Saudi Arabia beheaded two Saudis in two different cities between 1 and 3 March, bringing to 36 the number of death sentences carried out in the kingdom this year.
On 1 March, Mahdi Khalaf al-Shamrani, a Saudi convicted of shooting a compatriot dead, was beheaded in the city of Abha the interior ministry said. He was found guilty of killing Saeed Msaed al-Aklabi following a dispute over land. (Sources: AFP, 01/03/2015)
On 3 March, a Saudi convicted rapist, Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed al-Bishi, was executed in the region of Asir, after being convicted of assaulting his victim at gunpoint, the interior ministry said in a statement. "He also committed a number of armed robberies causing panic amongst the society. He had entered a number of homes by force and tried to kidnap and rape women and children," the statement said.
