IRAN: THREE MORE EXECUTIONS, TWO IN PUBLIC
September 8, 2014: Iran carried out another three executions, including two in public, between 2 and 4 September.
Two prisoners were hanged in public in two different towns in the Mazanderan province, reported the Iranian state media.
One of the prisoners was scheduled to be executed in the town of Mahmoodabad on 1 September, but due to protests by the people his execution was interrupted and carried out the day after, under heavy security measures. The man, who was identified as Mohsen D., was charged with a murder in 2008, according to the official website of Mazanderan Judiciary.
The other prisoner, identified as A. A., was convicted of a murder in 2004. The execution was carried out publicly on 3 September in the town of Savadkooh, Bloghnews reported.
On 4 September, a prisoner identified as Alaedin Dijoihar was executed in the Central Prison of Orumieh, after being convicted of drug-related crimes, reported the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA). (Sources: Iran Human Rights, 04/09/2014; HRANA, 08/09/2014)
