GAZA: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH ON MURDER CHARGE
February 13, 2014: A court in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis sentenced a man convicted of murder to death, a Ma'an reporter said.
A panel of judges headed by Hisham Kalakh sentenced a man to death by hanging while two others were sentenced to life imprisonment and hard labor.
A fourth suspect was released after three months in custody.
The four men were involved in the murder of money-changer Amin Sharab, 60, who was found dead with stab wounds in his Khan Younis shop last year.
Hamas has executed nearly two dozen people since taking over Gaza in 2007, according to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, which opposes capital punishment.
Under Palestinian law, collaboration with Israel, murder and drug trafficking are all punishable by death. (Sources: Ma'an, 13/02/2014)
