MALAYSIA: FORMER LORRY DRIVER SENT TO THE GALLOWS FOR KILLING FRIEND
February 7, 2014: A Malaysian High Court sentenced a former lorry driver to the gallows after he was found guilty of murdering his friend at a house in Simpang Ampat, three years ago.
Judge Datuk Zamani Abdul Rahim made the ruling after finding the defence failed to raise any reasonable doubts on the charge faced by R. Enthiran, 34.
R. Enthiran was accused of killing M. Asokhkumaran, 34, using a hammer during a fight after the deceased was alleged to have raped his daughter at house No 15, Lorong 10/SS3 Bandar Tasek Mutiara, Simpang Ampat at 3am on Aug 28, 2011.
He was charged under section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty by hanging, if convicted.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Cheah Yit while Enthiran by counsel Muhammad Arif Shaharuddin. (Sources: Bernama, 07/02/2014)
