Shannon M. Johnson, 28, black, was executed in Delaware.
Ever since Johnson was sentenced on Sept. 5, 2008 for the Nov. 10, 2006 murder of his ex-girlfriend Cameron Hamlin, 25, he has told any attorney, court or jury to hurry up and put him to death.
A few protesters outside the prison’s gates took side pro and con of capital punishment.
Johnson becomes the 1st condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Delaware and the 16th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1992.
Johnson becomes the 15th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1292nd overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
