THAILAND: MALAYSIAN TRIO TO HANG FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
September 4, 2011: three Malaysians found in possession of 45kg of drugs were sent to the gallows in Songkhla, Thailand.
Initial investigations revealed that the drugs, produced in the southern Thai province, were to be smuggled into Malaysia for distribution.
Thai police chief General Wichean Potephosree said the three suspects, aged 19, 25 and 28, were detained at a hotel room. All three suspects are from Kedah.
"We found three bags containing methamphetamine, better known as 'ice', in the Sadao districtâ, Wichean said.
"The trio claimed that an unidentified man had paid them to take the bags across the border and that they didn't know what was inside the bags." (Sources: AsiaOne.com, 04/01/2011)
