Marco Pannella has announced he will resume his hunger strike to get European Governments to honour the solemn and repeated commitments they have made regarding the moratorium on the death penalty. Above all, he wants the Italian Government to honour its commitment to present a resolution on the moratorium to the UN General Assembly.
The radical leader announced the resumption of his non-violent initiative in a press conference at Italy's House of Deputies.
Pannella will begin the hunger strike tonight, however he indicated that in the next few hours it could become a thirst strike.
