IRAN: SHIRIN EBADI'S SAYS DEATH TRIAL UNFAIR

February 6, 2010: Iranian human rights lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi, 62, said that a 19 year old man named Arash who was executed did not receive a fair trial.
“His interrogators promised that if he agreed to everything in court, he would be freed. He wrongly confessed to taking part in the demonstrations.”
“Arash was arrested two months before the election. On his trial day his solicitor wasn't allowed to appear in court.” “Without any legal procedures or informing the family, the young man was executed. His real crime was being a member of a monarchist group.” (Sources: Telegraph.co.uk, 06/02/2010)
